Oversell & backorder
Oversell (backorder) lets customers order a product even when stock hits 0. Use it when you can source and fulfil orders after the fact.

Enabling oversell means you're committing to fulfil orders even without stock on hand. Only enable it if you're confident you can source the product.
Oversell settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Estimated dispatch days | Shown to customer: 'Ships in X days'. Set your realistic sourcing time. |
| Max backorders allowed | Cap on how many backorders you'll accept. Set 0 for unlimited. |
| Backorders taken | Live count of how many backorders have been placed vs your limit. |
